The Rust programming language has been long touted as a “modern replacement for C and C++”, with a suite of features that make it suitable for modern, highly concurrent, systems level applications.

More recently, Rust has been touted by AWS and others as an alternative to the more established languages like Python. This is quite surprising, as this is normally the domain of high level, interpreted languages.

Furthermore, it promises massive improvements in performance and reductions in cost. When something seems too good to be true, you should probably test it!
